Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your Sri Ayyappa Temple Nairobi devotee account at any time. This page describes how, what is removed, and what is retained.
App name
Sri Ayyappa Temple (iOS + Android).
Developer
Sri Ayyappa Seva Samaj, Nairobi, Kenya.
How to delete your account — the fastest way
- Open the Sri Ayyappa Temple mobile app on iOS or Android, or the devotee portal at devotee.ayyappakenya.org.
- Sign in with your email (one-time 6-digit code).
- Tap the Profile tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete my account".
- Confirm in the dialog box.
The button is right below "Sign out" on the Profile screen. The account is soft-deleted immediately — you will be signed out and unable to sign in again with that email.
If you can't sign in
If you have lost access to your email and can no longer use the in-app deletion flow, email us at [email protected] from the address that is closest to the account's. Include:
- your full name as it appears on the account;
- the email address registered with the account;
- (optional) any booking or donation reference number you remember, to help us locate the right row.
We will verify the request — usually with one follow-up email — and delete the account within 7 working days. We don't charge for this.
What is deleted
When you delete your account, we remove your contact and sign-in data:
- Email address (replaced with a deleted-account sentinel so the slot is freed for someone else to register)
- Phone number
- Profile photo, if you uploaded one
- Password (we don't hold one anyway — sign-in is OTP-only)
- Family-member records you added under your account
- Device push-notification tokens linked to your account
The account is soft-deleted immediately. Your sign-in tokens are revoked the moment the deletion is submitted, so no further requests can be made on your behalf and you can no longer sign in.
What is retained, and why
Booking, donation and ATM membership records linked to your account stay on file for the temple's financial ledger. This is required by Kenyan accounting practice — annual financial reports go to the committee and to tax authorities, and individual transactions cannot be erased without breaking those totals.
Each retained record continues to show your full name and the astrological details (nakshatra, rashi, gotra) you supplied at booking, because the printed receipt was issued in that name and those details — the temple has to be able to re-produce the receipt on request. Your date of birth is also kept for the same reason. Contact info (email, phone) is stripped from your user profile, but the historical receipt rows still reference you by name.
Operational logs (IP addresses, request paths, timestamps) are retained for up to 30 days for security investigation and then purged automatically.
Push notification tokens
On account deletion, every device push-notification token registered to your account is unbound. The device may still receive temple-wide announcements (anonymous broadcasts) until you sign out of the app or uninstall it.
Re-opening an account
If you change your mind after deletion, you can register again with the same email — but the previous account's data is gone. Your booking and donation history will not be recovered; it remains anonymised in the temple ledger as described above.
