The Sri Ayyappa Temple of Nairobi was constructed in such a way that it resembles the Sabarimala  Sri Dhrama Shashta temple in every aspect with the dazzling Brass work used to conceal the sanctum sanctorum that evokes the mystical beauty of Sabarimala Temple, the abode of Lord Ayyappa. The Temple is constructed and managed by Sri Ayyappa Seva Samaj, a non-profit organization that was officially registered on 15th April 1997. The temple was consecrated on 26th  May 2002 (Golden Temple of Nairobi) has become an iconic structure among all the Hindu temples in Nairobi. The temple is located within SHREE RAM MANDIR COMPLEX, Bhanderi Road, Parklands, Nairobi.

The idol of Lord Ayyappa is made of Panchaloha, which is a mixture of five metal representing the Panchaboothas that constitutes the basic elements of the universe. The height of the idol is 71 yam (apron. 45cms) placed on a stone peedam about 18cm heigh. The Lord Ayyappa is in the Yoga Mudra pose

The Deepa Sthambha is in five tiers with base in the form of a Tortoise (Koorma), the second avatar of Lord Vishnu. the crown of the Deepa Sthambha is in the form of a Horse, which is the Vahana of Lord Ayyappa

Ashtabhishekam

The eight divine items used for the Abhishekam of Nairobi Lord Ayyappa  and they are  : Ghee, Milk, Honey, Panchamrutam, Tender coconut water, Sandalwood or Chandan, Till Oil, Vibhuthi Or Bhasmam

Sarvamangala Pooja

This unique pooja is a ritual where 15 special poojas are performed throughout the day (From Nirmaalya Darshanam to Athazha Pooja) for the deity in the name of the devotees and their family.

 The Pooja is performed to purify the aura of negativity that surrounds us and to correct the destabilizing influences of the planets, thus restoring peace and harmony in our lives.

Charity Programme

Since 2005 , Sri Ayyappa Seva Samaj , have dedicated one day before the Jamhuri Day, for celebrating XMAS with the less fortunate children from 20+ orphanage homes involving over 1400 children of all ages. Our main objective and aim is to give them feeling of XMAS celebrations which otherwise they are unable to see or enjoy. We create an atmosphere to give them joy of Christmas along with Food rations,  handful of gifts , Chocolates  and some  new clothes.

Managing Committee

Sri Ayyappa Temple, Nairobi is managed by Sri Ayyappa Seva Samaj, a non-profit organization which is registered in Kenya on 15th April 1997. Samaj Conducts its AGM every year and elects the office bearers for the forthcoming year. The Annual General Meeting of Sri Ayyappa Seva Samaj was conducted on 30th October 2021 and elected its office bearers for the year 2021-2022.
